My (realistic) 2016 Bucketlist

Can you believe we’re more than half way through the 2nd month of the year? Wow. Just thinking about it is making me feel all kinds of emotions; happy, sad, anxious, worried, excited.

About a few weeks ago, while I was thinking of things I wanted to accomplish this year a thought popped into my head, “I’m turning 23 this year. It dawned on me, kept me up all night, and it’s all I could think about for weeks. I know you’re all probably rolling your eyes and thinking, “What are you talking about??? You’re so young!” And the more I thought about it, the more motivated I got. “Positive thoughts, positive thoughts, positive thoughts”, I kept repeating in head. My mind was so muddled and tired from all the overthinking, I just needed to rest I thought to myself. But, a few days later, somehow, something in my head just clicked.

I’m young. I’m single. I’m free, active, and motivated. So what’s stopping me from putting myself out there and reaching my goals? And the answer is… nothing! I’ll be honest though, I’m pretty scared. 2016 is pretty much a give-it-your-best-shot-don’t-worry-if-you-fail kind of year. I don’t know what’s going to happen, where I’m going to go or what I’m going to do buuuuuut I’ve written a short and somewhat realistic bucketlist for 2016 and I hope that every single one will be checked off by the end of year.

  1. Climb a mountain
  2. Take part in a fun run
  3. Travel through some parts of Europe
  4. Do volunteer work
  5. Do something adventurous
  6. Post regularly on my blog
  7. Start making travel videos (and upload them to Youtube)
  8. Be more active
  9.  Become a better speaker
  10. Travel somewhere alone (local or international)

Those are my ten goals for 2016! I’d love to hear about all yours. What are your plans for your unforgettable year??? Dream big! Leaving you guys with an inspirational quote to keep you motivated:

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something. So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”

I wish you all the best and I bet you will accomplish all these goals in your bucket list (and i wish the same thing for myself too hehe)

  3. Among your list, the activity I miss the most is climbing mountains. The satisfaction and happiness when I traverse and go the road less traveled is worth every challenge. Good luck with your bucket list!

    1. Thank you! Can’t wait to start climbing mountains, any mountains you’ve climbed already that you’d recommend for a beginner? ☺

  4. I’ve got the same as your 1,2,3,4 and 10 in my bucketlist with #10 on top of my priority list for 2016. Unlike you who is so young, the idea of me turning 40 this September has also kept me awake at night and it felt like I’m running out of time to do all the things I wanna do. I know, OA. Haha!!

    1. Age is just a number, as people always say hehe. Never stop dreaming! You should definitely blog about it, I’d love to hear about your experiences 🙂

  5. We share some things in your list like the fun run and the making of travel video part. It’s good to have a list of goals because it sorta gives you direction. I hope you get to do all of them. 🙂

  6. Nos. 6 & 7 have been on my yearly bucket list, and I still struggle to keep my blog updated! Hahaha. I LOVE your writing style! Parang friend ko lang na ka-chismis ko whenever we get together, haha.

“I’m young. I’m single. I’m free, active, and motivated. So what’s stopping me from putting myself out there and reaching my goals?” This phrase is just too real for me. Although I’m not single (hihi), I can definitely relate to you, along with your fears and all. I’ve claimed 2016 will be “My Year”, and I have NO IDEA where to begin. So many plans, too little time. Ahhh! Also, EUROPE. Yas.

  7. we all need to have a bucket list to make our life a little bit interesting. It let’s us go out of our way to make things happen.

  8. What a beautiful bucket list. Travel is always a goal it seems for people and it always teaches us so much when we do! Hope you meet your goals!

  9. I love this! You definitely have a lot of possibilities on your plate and it is hard to know what direction you should go. I think that is just as scary as not having enough to do. I like your goals and your attitude! I hope you accomplish or at least fail hard at all that you do! It is going to be a great year!

  10. Your bucket list can be done except the trip to Europe which is kinda expensive, isn’t it? But positive thoughts!

      1. I am revisiting your bucket list to see which ones you have finished in the last couple or months or so. So tell, Johna. Tell. LOL!

        1. Wahaha! Well Robert after looking through my list again, happy to say I’ve done 6 out of the 10. Last few to go before the year ends 😀 😀 😀

          1. Hi Johna. I took the liberty of holding you accountable. So it is January again. A year had passed. So, how did you do for 2016? Were you able to do 4 other things to complete that 10?

  11. That sounds like lots of fun! I think it’s great that you want to spend more time on your blog. And everyone should spend time traveling in Europe. Where are some places you would like to go?

  12. I’ve made several revisions to my bucket list through the years. It feels so good to tick off items on our bucket list. 🙂 It’s also exciting to replace them with new ones. The trip to Europe and to the Holy Land are the items in my bucket list that have yet to happen.

    1. Year after year I also change my bucketlist throughout the year, hopefully this year I can stick to them! 😛 😛 Hehe. Would love to hear how your 2016 bucketlist is going! 😀

  13. Can’t believe the year has sped by. We actually had a lot of stuff we wanted to do too, but it’s nearly the end of the year. Hopefully, you were able to tick everything in your 2016 bucket list. I want to try traveling alone too. I usually travel with my family.

  14. How has been your 2016 so far? Were you able to cross out all of them? It will soon be 2017 and your post reminds me of my own bucket list that I am going to prepare for next year. I enjoy doing a bucket list. It gives me a sense of direction. I am going to include blogging on my bucket list too.

    1. It’s been good so far! Just a few days left, I still have a few to check off. Not sure I’ll be able to do them all but staying positive! Hehe. I’m thinking of my new 2017 list. Definitely share yours!! 😀
